SO GOOD…IT’S WORTH THE WAIT!

Praline Chocolate Dessert

There are very few recipes that I would spend a lot of time preparing - but this one is the exception! It’s very easy to make, the time consuming part is you have to chill each layer for 2 hours. Waiting is not something I’m good at - LOL! However the first time I tried this recipe, I decided it was worth the wait! And each and every time I’ve made it since.

CRUST LAYER:

2 cups Oreo Cookie Crumbs (I used the Oreo thins and crumbled them in the food processor)

1/2 cup Butter, melted

1 cup Pecans, chopped in small pieces (go ahead and toast them too, they’re better that way!) Toast pecan pieces in the oven at 350 degrees for 10-15 minutes or until golden brown. They will become very fragrant when they are done.

In a small bowl, combine cookie crumbs and butter, then press into the bottom of a 9 inch spring-form pan. Place on a cookie sheet and bake at 350 degrees for 10 minutes. Cool on a wire rack. Sprinkle toasted pecan pieces over Oreo crust.

PRALINE LAYER:

1 1/2 cups Butter, cubed (yes that’s 3 sticks!)

1 cup Brown Sugar, packed

1 teaspoon Vanilla

In a large sauce pan over medium heat, bring butter and brown sugar to a boil, stirring constantly. Reduce heat, simmer, uncovered, for 10 minutes. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla. Pour over pecan pieces. Refrigerate for 1-2 hours or until set.

CREAM CHEESE LAYER:

2 packages Cream Cheese, softened

1/2 cup Powdered Sugar

1/3 cup Brown Sugar

In a mixing bowl, beat the above ingredients until smooth. Spread over praline later. Then we get to wait again for 1-2 hours or until set!

GANACHE…OH MY GOSH!

1 cup Semisweet Chocolate Chips

1/2 cup Heavy Whipping Cream

In a microwave safe bowl, melt chocolate chips with cream, stir with a whisk until smooth. I start with 45 seconds then 30 seconds, as needed. It really depends on your microwave, but chocolate can scorch easily and you don’t want that to happen! Cool slightly, then spread over the cream cheese layer. Then guess what…chill again for 2 more hours! See what I mean Wait Wait Wait! Once it has set, carefully run a knife around the edge of the pan to loosen; remove sides of pan. Garnish with pecan halves if desired. Let set at room temperature for 5 minutes before slicing.

Makes 14-16 serving. It’s incredibly rich, a small slice is all you need - then you’ll see why it’s worth the wait!
